Bio-based innovations are driving sustainable change in the construction sector! At the Bioeconomy in Construction Forum, we would like to present ways of implementing and applying these in practice. The forum brings together all the key players in the construction industry - from the skilled trades, planning and product manufacturing through to local authorities and science.

The focus is on successful practical examples, research transfer and concrete strategies for the market launch of bio-based building materials. In addition to specialist presentations and interactive working groups, you can expect plenty of room for exchange, networking and new collaborations - for a construction industry that conserves resources and shapes the future.

An accompanying materials fair brings the world of sustainable building materials to life and presents current products, exciting projects and research results.

We cordially invite you to the Forum Bioeconomy in Construction - on Thursday, October 2nd from 10:00 - 17:00!

Group 1:

Efficiency enables innovation - challenges and solutions for the approval of bioeconomic building materials

Extensive regulatory requirements, a lack of standards or ambiguities with regard to warranties often make approval and therefore market access for sustainable building materials more difficult. As part of this workshop discuss we will discuss various solutions with you that enable a faster and simpler approval process for bio-based materials.

Moderation: Tilman Kramolisch, naturePlus e.V. & Viktoria Lei, TechnologieRegion Karlsruhe GmbH

Group 2:

Certification of bioeconomic building materials - paths to clear evaluation systems

Ecolabels and certifications are important tools for providing guidance and increasing the use of sustainable building materials. However, the growing number of labels makes it difficult to gain an overview and poses challenges for practitioners. In this workshop, we will look together at central certification systems and identify interfaces and approaches to harmonization - for more clarity and efficiency in the construction industry.

Moderation: Felix Konrad, natureplus e.V. & Theresa Pscherer, TH Rosenheim

Group 3:

Knowledge creates change - Strategic transformation

Discover the latest material trends in the construction industry! In our workshop, we will shed light on the constantly growing variety of innovative, bio-based and renewable materials that are changing the market. Together we would like to evaluate your current knowledge on research topics, identify opportunities and challenges and discuss individual questions. Let us actively drive your strategic transformation!

Moderation: Dr. Thomke Bergs, RWTH Aachen & Dr.-Ing. Henning Lucas, Leibniz Universität Hannover

Group 4:

From need to alliance - cooperation for pilot projects

How do individual needs become joint projects? In this workshop, we bring together the right players: property developersbuilding material manufacturers, tradesmen, planners and other stakeholders who want to promote bio-based construction. The basis is a short survey in advance, in which participants can contribute their current challenges, ideas and interests. Together, we will further develop these needs, identify concrete starting points for cooperation - and initiate the first alliances for pilot projects.

Moderation: Hartmut Welck, Fraunhofer Institute ISI & Sophie Bentele, TechnologieRegion Karlsruhe GmbH
