Wie kann die Rekrutierung internationaler Talente konkret gelingen? Am Dienstag, den 29. Juli 2025, laden das Welcome Center TechnologieRegion Karlsruhe, die Wirtschaftsförderung Karlsruhe und das India Board Karlsruhe zu einer spannenden Veranstaltung ins ZKM | Zentrum für Kunst und Medien ein. Im Mittelpunkt stehen Fachkräfte und Auszubildende aus Indien – einem Land mit großem Potenzial und wachsender Bedeutung für den baden-württembergischen Arbeitsmarkt.
Die Veranstaltung richtet sich an Geschäftsführende und Personalverantwortliche aus der TechnologieRegion Karlsruhe und ganz Baden-Württemberg. In fünf branchenspezifischen Gruppen – Handwerk, IHK-Berufe, Hotellerie & Gastronomie, Pflege sowie IT & Studierende – werden Best Practices vorgestellt, Herausforderungen offen diskutiert und praxisnahe Lösungsansätze vermittelt.
Darüber hinaus geben interkulturelle Impulse wertvolle Orientierung im Umgang mit kulturellen Unterschieden – ein wichtiger Erfolgsfaktor für gelungene Zusammenarbeit im Arbeitsalltag.
Die Veranstaltung ist Teil der „India Week“ rund um die India Summer Days in Karlsruhe und steht im Zeichen der enger werdenden Partnerschaft zwischen Baden-Württemberg und dem indischen Bundesstaat Maharashtra. Grundlage hierfür ist unter anderem das Mobilitätsabkommen zur Arbeitsmigration, das im Februar 2024 zwischen beiden Regionen geschlossen wurde.

Am 22. Mai 2025 fand in der RaumFabrik Durlach unser Fachkräfte-Forum unter dem Titel „Fachkräfte aus dem Ausland gewinnen und integrieren“ statt – eine gemeinsame Veranstaltung der Technologieregion Karlsruhe mit der Wirtschaftsförderung der Stadt Karlsruhe, der AOK Baden-Württemberg und der RaumFabrik Durlach.
Zahlreiche Teilnehmende aus Wirtschaft, Verwaltung und Bildung kamen zusammen, um sich über Chancen und Herausforderungen bei der Rekrutierung internationaler Fachkräfte auszutauschen. In Fachvorträgen und praxisnahen Diskussionsrunden mit Expertinnen und Experten – u.a. vom BAMF, der IHK, HWK, Agentur für Arbeit und der DHBW – wurden zentrale Fragen beleuchtet:
Wie finde ich qualifizierte Fachkräfte im Ausland?
Welche rechtlichen und organisatorischen Rahmenbedingungen müssen berücksichtigt werden?
Wie gelingt Integration – sowohl im Unternehmen als auch im gesellschaftlichen Umfeld?
Die Veranstaltung bot neben wertvollen Best Practices auch konkrete Hilfestellungen sowie Raum für persönlichen Austausch und Vernetzung.
Wir danken allen Beteiligten und Gästen für das große Interesse und die konstruktiven Beiträge – und freuen uns darauf, gemeinsam weiter daran zu arbeiten, internationale Fachkräfte erfolgreich in den regionalen Arbeitsmarkt zu integrieren.
On Monday, 19th May 2025, we welcomed a diverse group of international professionals, students, apprentices, and curious minds to another inspiring edition of our “International Come Together” – this time featuring a city tour through Karlsruhe.
Led by our enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide, Daniel Wensauer-Sieber, participants explored the city’s historical and cultural highlights, starting and ending at the iconic Pyramid on Marktplatz. Along the way, they enjoyed fascinating insights, engaging conversations, and new connections.
The “International Come Together” continues to serve as a vibrant networking opportunity within the Karlsruhe TechnologyRegion – bringing people together in an informal and welcoming atmosphere to exchange experiences and build meaningful relationships.

Am Dienstag, 6. Mai 2025, konnten wir vom Welcome Center der Technologieregion Karlsruhe (TRK) gemeinsam mit dem Career Service & Alumni des Karlsruher Instituts für Technologie (KIT) die Veranstaltung „Start your Career in the Karlsruhe TechnologyRegion“ ausrichten. Im Fokus des Abends standen internationale Studierende, Absolvent*innen, Promovierende und Postdocs, die ihre berufliche Zukunft in der Technologieregion Karlsruhe planen.
Ein herzliches Dankeschön an Prof. Jan S. Hesthaven für seine Teilnahme und Unterstützung!
Ein besonderes Highlight war die Podiumsdiskussion mit den HR-Expertinnen Christina Merkel-Reif (INIT SE) und Silke Fey (SEEBURGER AG) sowie den Alumni Patricia Iglesias Sánchez und 范昊 Hao Fan, die wertvolle Einblicke in den Berufseinstieg, Bewerbungsprozesse und Karrierechancen in der Region teilten. Charmant und souverän moderiert wurde die Diskussion von Agnes Honka vom KIT Career Service.
Ergänzt wurde das Programm durch Impulsvorträge zentraler Unterstützungsstellen sowie den „Markt der Möglichkeiten“, bei dem unter anderem die Agentur für Arbeit Karlsruhe-Rastatt, das Karlsruhe House of Young Scientists, das International Scholars and Welcome Office, das Studierendenwerk, der KIT Career Service und das Center of Competence der HKA mit Informationen und Beratungsangeboten vertreten waren.
An unserem Welcome Center TRK-Stand führten wir informative Gespräche rund um das Leben und Arbeiten in der Region – und gaben Impulse für den nächsten Karriereschritt.
Ein großes Dankeschön gilt insbesondere Julia Neer vom KIT Career Service für die hervorragende Organisation und Zusammenarbeit – sowie allen Partner*innen und Teilnehmenden.

If you not only want to attract international specialists, but also retain them in the long term, it is a good idea to consider the career prospects for the accompanying partner.
Our workshop offer is aimed at partners of international skilled workers who would like to develop and realize their own career prospects in the region. We provide information about the regional job market and explain the special features that need to be considered when applying for a job in Germany. The development of application strategies, exchange of experience, networking and advice make the offer an ideal starting point for a successful start in the TKR.
For this workshop we were able to win Meike von Platen-Holzapfel, an experienced dual career specialist. Meike von Platen-Holzapfel is HR Manager at BASF SE, Career Coach (ICF certified) and intercultural trainer. Responsible for the welcoming culture at BASF's headquarters for many years, she has played a key role in enabling numerous partners of international specialists and managers to successfully continue their own professional careers in Germany.

The Internationale Begegnungszentrum Karlsruhe e.V. (ibz) offers a wide-ranging cultural program and is characterized by a variety of integration-promoting offers and projects. The ibz was founded in 1995 following a decision by the Karlsruhe City Council to actively combat xenophobia and right-wing extremism.
Through information events and cross-cultural encounters, the ibz actively contributes to the reduction of prejudices and a better understanding between Karlsruhe residents from all over the world.
We want to help people who are new to Karlsruhe to find their way around more quickly and soon find a home here.
The alliance AniKA - Arriving in Karlsruhe offers initial information and initial orientation from a single source on this exchange platform. It aims to help you feel welcome in Karlsruhe through advice, networking and support. The calendar of events shows offers for internationals in the region, here is a selection:
SprechPunkt is a free service for practicing the German language. Groups are formed according to language level and accompanied by volunteer facilitators. The evenings take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 18:30 to 20:00. Registration is not required.
The "Freunde für Fremde" association at the ibz offers language courses for refugees and asylum seekers. They learn German in small groups under the guidance of volunteers.
